lollardfishThis article in the NY Times Magazine is a must-read as it seems to clearly articulate a number of things that many people do not understand about Islam, particularly Shariah. I do not know if the author's location of the transformation of Shariah to something less flexible to the late 19th/c Ottoman Empire is controversial or not, but it seems reasonable.
