Nico just did a perfect "more" sign, the first time we've seen him properly curl his fingers and make it perfectly distinct. It was in the context of demanding more chicken, rather than the green beans, rice, or other things we wished to feed him. It also got him more chicken, because communication must be rewarded.

This is effectively his first real word. I'm thrilled.

I already told him he could have some whiskey when he asks for it.

Apparently David has decided that dada and mama don't count. Plus there was the hands together hitting mouth which meant hungry or food. I think the key is that it's another word and a real sense of preference. He turned down food which he likes because he wanted something else more and said as much.

Honestly it was real neat to see him want something and work out how he could get it. I love the fact he's getting stubborn and picky.:)

Probably. If I have whiskey.

He says da-da-da-da-da a lot, so it's not clear he really does mean me when he says da-da lately, although I like to think it does.

Yes, it is all very full of awesome! And evidently also full of chicken!

"More" was also the first hand sign for both of my kids, though I think each had one or two verbalizations first (also of the mama/dada variety).

"m" is a tough one for Nico, so mama may, sadly, be awhile. He can press his lips together and make popping sounds, but mmmmmm seems far away.

Ah, so now you are attaching conditions! You would deny a sick man whiskey simply because you do not have it!

I'm a bastard. But my son isn't asleep and it's two hours past his bedtime, so I'm in a bastardly mood.

This is where the application of whiskey could be beneficial.

You are so right. It's probably best I have none.

He fortunately went to sleep a few minutes ago.
