I also wonder a bit whether Obama's softly-softly strategy isn't part of an attempt to create a unified "look" for the campaign when/if Biden and whatsherface debate. It's already been thoroughly discussed that Biden's got to walk Very carefully in order not to appear to be girl-bashing. After both debate, it may appear clear that they're a team w/a unified public debate strategy. Not complex, true, but, esp given Biden's trackrecord, perhaps a good script for him to practice.
