I am looking for an incredibly cheap mp3 player. If it only plays 15 songs, that's fine. If it has Hello Kitty on it, that's fine. I want to be able to leave it in the car.

Our Developmental Therapist suggested we try to play music to Nico through headphones when Ellie cries, and it works wonderfully. I'd rather not use the I-pod though. Moreover, I'd rather not use the 30-dollar 2-gig mp3 players either. I need something really cheap.

Ideas?

Sandisk makes a number of cheapity-cheap mp3 players that might suit this purpose. You can find them on-line and in retail stores.

Hmm. the 2 GB ones are still a little expensive.

I have one you can have. It runs on a AAA battery and takes an SD card, both of which I will also be happy to give you.

I suppose so, sure. It's an irregular cylinder about 10cm long and 2cm across.

If it's of any use to you, I have a pretty remarkably crappy 128Mb MP3 player. The interface is lousy and it chews up AAA batteries, but it's yours if you want it.

Should I plan to bring it North?

A standard USB to Mini-USB. Or you can pop out the SD card and write to it with something else, if you've a mind to.
