We're really close to having a home. Water is flowing, including the drips under the kitchen sink (supposedly was going to be fixed tonight, am hoping for tomorrow, in the meantime will put a bucket under it). The counter is nearly done. The bathroom is closer, though no shower ready yet. We have some doors, some blinds, and need more of each.

Tomorrow we may be able to set up our kitchen and set up the wife's clothing. Tonight, right now actually, the boy and the wife are each asleep in their own beds. Me ... I'm posting to LJ and watching the Red Sox. It's like normality. Quite pleasant.

I'm glad you are all settling in! I certainly hope the drips get fixed and such, but it sounds like you're getting home established.

A horde of people (anywhere from 10-30 usually, probably on the lower end this month) descend upon our home (Chez Dork, in Joliet, IL) on the third Saturday of most months. They come bearing instruments, games, a two-liter of soda and some munchies. I have a pot of soup cooking in the kitchen, a couple loaves of bread from the Polish bakery... and we while away the evening singing, playing games (sometimes), eating and talking. It's slightly chaotic, always fun.

I forgot to mention that we usually always have a horde of toddlers... my son who is 3, and his two best friends (2 and 2.5) are usually there as well. We also have a diaper changing table and a houseful of mostly kid-loving grownups. We'd love to have you!

Nope. It's a music circle... there'll be some filk, some folk, probably more rock... anything anyone wants to play. We proceed in a "modified bardic/quasi chaos" manner (basically if someone wants to 'follow' a song they can, but we more or less go in order around) and people are encouraged to jam along.
