Good Morning. Our son has been saying dada.

It took me a lot more time than I wanted to spend to figure out what the deal is here. Did they win the World Series? No, it appears to be the second game of the best-of-5 pennant race, right?

I liked the old knee-pants and stirrup-sock style of uniform much better. These guys look like they are playing in their pajamas.

Part of what makes it look that way is the fact that the guy closest to the camera, Manny Ramirez, has a thing about wearing uniform pieces that don't fit that he stole from other players, or he used to. Now I think he just wears the wrong size but they are his.

And you are correct about second game best of 5. But this is better than this team has done in a while.

And it was a particularly dramatic moment. It's the narrative of baseball that, in some ways, I find most compelling. The story of ever at-bat, every inning, every game, every season, every team's history.

Manny

In a game that was tense and tight, in which runs were hard to come by, for Manny (great hitter, not so great lately) to hit such a no-doubter deep into the night made it feel like a BIG moment. A moment of clarity.

congrats on the bosox getting back into the series. predictions?

[identity profile] lollardfish.livejournal.com 2007-10-24 02:52 am (UTC)(link)
I predict that predictions are silly ways to pass the time in lieu of analysis.

My analysis is that Beckett + the layoff may immediately send the Rockies into a funk, but if they can hit Beckett even moderately, this will be a hard-fought series.

That said, I think the Colorado pitchers are not ready for the grind that is this particular Boston lineup at this time (in full grinder mode), and Boston should really win in 5 or 6.

based on the first inning, your words make a WHOLE lot of sense.

there's a chance two canadians may pitch in the series. jeff francis and eric gagne. "oh canada".....

The only Canadian baseball player worth worrying about, at this point, is Justin Morneau.

Of course, he's not playing right now ...

i like jason bay, and i seem to remember his sister being cute and quite a fastpitch player as well. matt stairs is a personal fave of mine too! russell martin has been putting up some good numbers thus far.

[identity profile] lollardfish.livejournal.com 2007-10-27 05:57 pm (UTC)(link)
See, I didn't even know they were Canadian!

[identity profile] thickie.livejournal.com 2007-10-28 05:38 am (UTC)(link)
speaking of canada. i got ROYALLY freaked out when i went to pay for something i got on ebay, and paypal said that approximately $28 U.S. DVD was in fact some $26-or-so CDN. my whole consumer life has been spent with the U.S. dollar being more than the canadian dollar. maybe you might want to reconsider coming up to canada! just to add some more upheaval in daddy/mommy/nico world. i think about him a lot. he's such a loving little boy. i love seeing the pictures of him and his great big smile.

I've applied for lots of Canadian jobs, but, alas, haven't even gotten through the first stage to any of them.

well analyzed doctor!
