Nico at high speeds!

Two days ago, I went into the bathroom to start Nico's bath. I had left him, as we do, hanging out on the floor of his room, playing. I suddenly hear the sound of little hands on tile, and turn to see my son crawling merrily after me. He went right into the bathroom, was steered away from the cat box, saw some bathtoys on the ground, and went over to bang little plastic cups together. The barrier of his room threshold, had been broken (it was really, we think, the change from carpet to colder tile that had kept him from crawling out). Don't worry, we have a baby gate.

Today, I took out my guitar and started to play, and then did a pied piper routine as I got him to follow me out of his bedroom and into the kitchen, then sort of back again. The kitchen was filled with neat new things and he got a bit distracted.

Later, I took one of his favorite toys and put it in the kitchen and watched him crawl around after it. I've got two videos of these. I need a cheap video editor as the best video of all was too big for youtube - it shows him crawling after a ball, hitting it, and having to crawl after it again. Halfway through the video he sits up and does his other neat trick, which is casting shadows by moving his hands, and watching the shadows!

Anywhere, here are the ones I have for you.

He's working on pulling himself up, too.

He looked like he crawled more with his arms than his legs.

And that he's definitely a righty.

His arms definitely work better than his legs, which sort of kick out one way or another not always helpfully.

What I think is neat is when he really gets going or is very enthusiastic. His feet actually shove his bottom up into the air. It doesn't propel him forward as well as up. But it seems like it will lead to more hands and feet positions on the way to standing and getting up on his own.

He's mighty. That's what all this means.:)

I'm confused -- he reached for the toy with his left hand first both times. And he usually leads with his left arm. That makes him a righty?

I read somewhere that babies show handiness first in their legs.

Nico is getting HUGE!!! He is so adorable, so full of life, such a beautiful spirit. I could watch him all day long.

Thank you for sharing!

Windoz Movie Maker...

Won't Window's movie maker cut 'em down for you? If not, there are free clip editors out there.

Do I have a movie maker on my windows boxes? Is it standard?

Oh, and, um, I haven't put the DVD in to play. I'm a bad person!

Yes, it's standard since XP, and, I believe, downloadable for 2000.

There's also video.google.com which allows longer clips. And you can become a "director" at both which allows you to upload even longer clips. There's also additional movie maker sites, most, unfortunately, cost money. I'sa "director" at both because I was trying to find a place that would let me upload the infamous Connie Willis/Harlan Ellison tit grab at WorldCon...

Oh, the cuteness! This sure brings back memories, as P crawled by using his arms (and using his legs less than Nico does).

Wow... he gets up from crawling to sitting and back down again with such ease.

He's moving into kneel now too in front of this little play table!

Great videos!

On Macs we have iMovie-it's been around for ages...works great (though I recommend iMovie HD over the current release).

Oh wait, no Mac for you...

hehe

Maybe Shrub will buy you one!

Y'know, he looks just like some of those videos you see on the History Channel of soldiers crawling under barbed wire... Has he been getting ideas from the Military Channel here? :)

Boy, he moves fast... give him a few feet head start and he's gone....
