yay! I was a regular cheerleader (er & still am) for every little accomplishment the kids make - it's so amazing to see them go from born/new to it all to like - communicating and using like, tools and playing pretend. It's pretty amazing.
I also think non-parents don't quite get the day-to-day work of it all either, although maybe there's less intensity of work in other circumstances (where the learning comes easily). I've been playing stacking games with Nico for 4 months now. Today, today, it happened!
Um really, cause I think some of us really do get it.
Only you get to keep going with them. Imagine a toddler room for 3 years day in day out, they finally reach a point where they have some self help skills and them it's time to show them the door. Imagine a room or 14 Nico's :) Adorable!...... but so much work! Okay a wee bit older then him but not much.
I want to know when you guys are coming if only so I don't plan too many other things to be able to hang out.
Plus I want to plan to come and crash your Chicago party scene. I was thinking once in June and once in July for like 3 days each plus two travel days if that makes sense. I want to try driving next trip.
I know you are tired but we like when you post especially when it's about your lives and our favorite baby.
Kurt -- I just finished reading this book and reading this post, I think you'd really like it. Too bad it's only in hardcover so far in the US -- though the price is relatively decent. here is the Canadian version with Canadian-flavoured (yes, that's "flavoured" with a u) comments.
