I just donated $15 to Obama/Biden. I'm not sure I've ever donated to a political campaign before.

It feels good. And is the least I can do.

We've got to win this one.

Oh please, the republibots enshrine their own facts in newsmedia and textbooks every day!

Good for you!

Please report back on what happens next, particularly if your experience is different than mine. My first-ever donation to a political campaign was for $25, about 8 years ago, or maybe 10-12. The party in question proceeded to spend far, far more than $25 asking me for more money in that same election. If they'd asked once more, or twice (at most), I would have likely donated again to future campaigns when I was able to. But from what I could tell, my contribution cost the party more than it helped.

I trust that their experience shows that the incessant mailings yield enough additional contributions to make them cost-effective overall, but I wasn't in a position to give them the hundreds (and thousands) of dollars they were spending my contribution to reach for. If I'm going to make contributions, I want to do so in a way that they're a net win rather than a net loss.

My small contribution years ago was a loss for both the party and me. I'd love to learn that the Obama/Biden campaign handles small contributions differently than their political predecessors did!

Thank you for doing "the least you could". If you truly believe that this is that important, please, find a way to do the most you can. This is a sentiment that you'll be running across from me in other LJs as well. B. thinks I am strident and nasty about making this point, but my heart tells me that "we've got to win this one", too.

I will be working on the campaign full time starting next week, and until the new baby comes. Maybe longer; it'll depend on how mom and baby are doing, of course. Not to mention the big brother.

Me too - yesterday I went to the Obama site and bought some stickers and signs and made a donation.

I'm intending to get involved with voter-turnout efforts this year; I think it's one area where I can do some real good.

We gave this year for the first time, too.
