This kind of story is both wonderful and terrible. It has the potential to send me tumbling out of the world of comfortable acceptance and peace into a strange land called hope. But hopes can be dashed.

It's going to be a weird day in my head.

I think hope and acceptance can cohabitate.

Personally I think it's a neat possibility, though I'm more interested in delaying and or preventing Alzheimers especially with a population susceptible to early onset.

Anything that makes a child's life easier and the benefits outweigh the risks is certainly worth working towards.

I think the answer is that even if this doesn't work out, something will, eventually. What 'eventually' means is anybody's guess, alas. But we are in an age of snowballing medical and scientific discoveries, which is a constant source of hope for me. (And that then put me in weird head space too as I wonder how I feel about big pharma this week...)

Meanwhile there are things we know increase general brain function at certain levels, which I'm sure you've heard all about, like omega 3 fatty acids. They don't do anything like what this drug promises to do... but every little bit helps.

I find myself kind of glad that it's not our Nico in the earliest studies, and that people I don't know will be producing the results. And then. Well, that's for later.

If the studies continue, would you consider involving Nico in it if he's of age? I ask because I wonder how you feel about it? Or, if you're not ready to comment, or not willing, that's cool and COMPLETELY understood. I hope I don't offend by asking.
