Lessons from medieval history.

1) Don't lend money to the king. The BEST possible outcome is that he won't pay you back.

2) Don't refuse to lend money to the king. The BEST possible outcome is that he'll just take your money.

3) It's good to be the king.

Yeah...

Though generallly Jews enjoyed the king's protection cause he liked to be able to continue to shake them down for money.

Alas, this protection usually meant squat when the angry mobs came a-calling.
