It's a good piece and a good effort. What's interesting to me is that it doesn't talk about rape and abuse, given the staggering numbers of people with disabilities who are sexually abused. I suspect they are trying to normalize rather than rely on outrage messaging.

agreed. also, I wonder if the column ran out of words, and therefore had to narrow its focus significantly.
