New Car Smell

My car, a 1987 Nissan Stanza with only about 104K miles on it, needs a new power steering pump. This is a 500+ dollar repair, and I'm not gonna do it.

So I need a new car. Or, more accurately, a new (to me) used car. Anyone local know anyone selling anything worth having? Or have suggestions of how to do this? Cars have always just come to me when needed in the past ...

I'm not buying a minivan! Never! Well, not until my kids are older. And since I have no kids ...

Basic checklist:
Decide how much you want to spend.

Decide what the most important aspects you want out of the car are (economy, passenger space, hauling space, performance, warranty). Needs first, wants second.

Decide what you plan on doing with your current car (trade in, sell, keep as spare for emergencies, give away).

Now you're ready to start shopping. The net is indeed a great place to start. The online classifieds on the Star Trib site are quite handy once you have an idea what you're looking for. Any advice you get from people who know a bit about cars will be much better if you have already gone through the check list of basics as they can be much more specific.

We have a car we need to sell. Or, more probably, a truck. Drop us a line.
