(no subject)

A LucasArts (tm) recruiter just called me. They "came across my name somewhere" (I blame my friend Brett) as a "content designer" for games, and wanted me to know they were recruiting right now.

I regretfully informed them that I was a lowly medieval history professor (sort of), though I put in a plug for me as a consultant.

How odd.

Many years ago, SPI developed a massive multi-player medieval game. The world consisted of a hex grid of small holdings, and you were a minor noble of some sort. Other people were greater nobles, clergy, etc. This was all pre-Internet, so it would be adjudicated by mail. They never did anything with it, but I always thought it would be fun to play.

And consulted on Lords of the Realm III (most of which they ignored).

They didn't so much offer me a job as seek my resume as a game designer so that they could consider it.
