Brazilian soccer players tend to go by one single name. Cafu, Ronaldo, Ronaldino, and so forth (like Pele). Actually, many Brazilians just go by one name.

Anyway, Brazil's second goal today was scored by a player whose one name is: Fred.

This makes me happy.

yes you know me, silly! And in Brasil, the r's are pronounced ha. So it's Henoldinho, not Renoldinho (with or without a rolled r, which they do have in Brasil but not for an initial R). Uninformed American announcers! Maybe I just know too much... but not in general, just about portuguese pronunciation.

The Italian announcers always called them "R"onaldinho and "R"onaldo and "R"ivaldo and such too.

I'll listen to the Spanish broadcast next time they play.

I was there for 3 months twice over 2 years. I can speak pretty good portuguese, especially after a bit of practice. Brasil is a totally different world. Extremely gorgeous but quite dangerous.

They are quite progressive in many ways. You have a choice to by a car that runs on just gasoline or on alcohol, a mix of ethanol(I think) and gas. Maybe the wave of the future?

Well, sadly (for the US), their "gas" is based on sugar cane, which is much more efficient than corn in terms of turning vegetable matter into fuel.
