Then it's not just me. I loved the first season and felt the second season just dragged. And was unimpressed with the start of this season. we've yet to see tonight's episode. I feel like they don't really know where they are going with the story so they just drag it out with lots of dumb fighty action. Kind of like Lost did in their second and third season.
But first we must watch dumb funny "Chuck." So dumb and so funny it hurts. I didn't like it at first but it grew on me.
I feel it's largely the Sylar (sp?) character that holds the show back. He's not interesting. He keeps coming back, but just to reprise storylines they've already done.
But wait! This time when they do X-Men's "Days of Future's Past" storyline, this time it will be different!
I don't feel that Sylar in particular holds the show back. I don't think too much of him as a character, but as a plot device he is somewhat useful. Anything that kills off characters from their already bloated cast is fine with me. They can't write for the ones they have already, and they keep adding more.
By the way, if you are looking for a superhero show that is actually, y'know, fun, check out The Middleman. Do not be fooled by the fact that it is on ABC Family. It's really enjoyable. Charismatic leads, snappy dialog, batshit crazy plots. In the first three episodes alone, we've got talking gorillas (and the obligatory Gorilla Grodd reference), a trip to the underworld, and an army of luchadores. Season 1 is over now, but episodes can be found on iTunes or less savory corners of the net.
