In the wake of the news that the Palin wardrobe cost 150,000 dollars, much of it spent at Nieman Marcus in Minneapolis, I recommend you watch this video of the Obamas talking about clothing. If you hear anyone saying something like, "both sides do it," I recommend you send them this video.

Weeeell. Yes, it's entirely true that the Obamas wear a wider range of clothing than, say, McCain, but Michelle hasn't gotten her rep as a new Jackie for nothing- some of those iconic looks are actually small up-&-coming designers! I kind of think it's cool, b/c she's putting her money into clothing she knows she'll look great in, regardless of label, and not just thoughtlessly throwing money at the big fancy designers.

That's what I could find quickly. I think she's really demonstrating a nice blend of on-camera stuff- the GAP dress in the vid you link to above, but also the Thakoon, etc- smaller designer stuff- clearly she's into the look and the fit of the thing, and not the logo, you know?
