I have in my house:

A one year old (ish) white and orange tomcat.

He's neutered (probably - the doctor said he's either neutered or is younger than she thinks and has abdominal testicles. Check back in a month).

He's free of feline leuikemia, respiratory disease, and other such ailments.

He's had his vaccinations, but could use boosters in a month.

He's been given a dose of de-wormer (just in case), and I've got another dose to give him in 2 weeks.

He's been in some scrapes, but is on antibiotics just to be on the safe side. One recent battlewound has been profesionally cleaned and disinfected.

--------------------

He's impossibly sweet and cuddly, even when being subjected to horrible things by the vet. The biggest problem was getting him to stop purring so she could hear his heart and lungs. This is a cat you want. You know it is.

Off to give him a bath.

My lease = no pets. If it were different, hobo cat would be a fine addition here.

(and if I was working, I'd throw money at the hobo cat rehab. Thanks for seeing to it.)

$200 well spent, really. The 45 minutes spent on the couch with him huddled in towels, licking his pawns, was time really well spent. For the psyche.

Gosh, maybe we could in a few months--I know I *do* want him--but it would be dangerous before Tom moves out and I don't have a timetable for that yet.

:-(

For a few thou a year he could go live in the palmy Florida retirement community of Palm Meow. I have no idea if these guys are serious... but they are expensive!

Unlike the free-yet-hoaxish folks at The Dog Island.

We would never take your cat from you.

We have perfect cat balance right now. The new boy is destabilizing. I posted to Craig's list.

I think this is probably your cat. You're the ones he's chosen. If it just won't work out, don't take him to the Humane Society! We'll find him a home, one of our kid's best friends has been looking for a cat. I realize it would be better, if you have to give him up, to give him to a friend of yours. Then you can have visitation privileges.

This is not my cat. Three cats are vastly more difficult than two, especially if two of them are male. They are harder to feed, clean up after, move (I expect to be moving in a year. Three cats will be hard), and so forth.

I do not want another cat, although he's very nice.

Taking him in and cleaning him up was the right thing to do. Finding him a new home will also be the right thing to do.

Have the kid's friend call me. 612-396-4837. This cat is cleaned and ready to go. Donations to help offset the cost of vet care accepted, but not required. :)

Any word from your kid's friend? I hate leaving Shannon with an extra cat all week.
