Every so often somebody points out something that isn't "News of the Weird" level of twisted, and isn't going to make me angry or change whmo I vote for in the next election, but is still just really, really interesting to read. This is an example of that; a nice article. (And it gets me thinking, not for the first time, about the wondering whether I should get my eyes "done" at all. I keep coming back to "No, I just don't want to," but it's still a topic that those of us who wear glasses should mull over, just a bit, before making a snap decision in either direction.) Yes, "interesting."
What are the cons, other than money, of laser eye surgery?
I'm not sure about "cons" as such, but I've been advised not to have it because of my family history of glaucoma. One of the treatments for glaucoma is a different variety of laser eye surgery and apparently it doesn't work as well on those who have had vision correction surgery.

Re: Interesting
Some number of people undergoing the surgery end up with worse, or no, vision. The number is small, but it is non-zero.
Another con is that, for people of a certain age, one will still need corrective lenses to deal with the effects of aging.
