CNN

I have a new piece on CNN about a case in Georgia. A woman with Down syndrome was raped. A jury convicted her rapist. A judge overturned the conviction because she "didn't act like a victim." Please read and share if you are so inclined.

I write about this as a story not about Down syndrome, but about rape and our justice system.

Obvious trigger warnings apply.

I wrote a blog post today about the way we talk about sex to girls, generally speaking, in our society.

But it was really a thinly veiled excuse to note that Scarleteen, the best resource for sexual education for teens (and beyond) online, is in some financial difficulty right now. If you care about this topic, please read this and, if you can, please donate. I have. Thank you.

I had an essay published by CNN today, which is a first for me.

Thanks those of you who helped with drafts.

I can't actually find the op-ed on their pages, but I'm glad it's there.

My essay on the death of Ambassador Chris Stevens, and me. For the student newspaper with my students very much as the intended audience.

My children are lying together in Nico's bed downstairs.
Nico's head is on Ellie's shoulder. Her arm is flung sideways across his chest and arm.
Covers are still at his waist. She's kicked them off.
It's what love looks like.

I'm pretty sure that's it exactly.

How come you people didn't tell me Alan Doyle (Great Big Sea) was in Robin Hood. I might have watched it weeks ago.
