I thought that was self evident by placing the word there with no hint of its meaning.

I took that (placing it there with no hint of its meaning) as a subtle continuation of the jargon in the thesis thread, which did not encourage me to look up its meaning.

When you said that you had to look it up, that became a hint that I should look it up.

It's really keen. And is the right use of jargon, since it compresses a LOT into a single phrase.
